Why this website?
Well, in 2005, after three biological children, we adopted our 4th child from Guatemala. After two years of
delays and struggles, corruption and finally the joy of meeting our new son
Paolo, we
thought it would be the end of our journey. We had decided to adopt because
we believe we are so fortunate. We materially have so much in comparison to most of the
world population. This is how Paolo
joined our family in November 2005. We nicknamed him our
star fish. Paolo and our brief
experience in Guatemala actually re-opened our eyes to the reality of the
third world and in particular to the conditions of children in Guatemala.
Within a year from adopting Paolo, we have met and/or worked with
organizations that have already done a lot for the poorest of Guatemala, for
example:
Hands-of-Hope, Orphan Resources and Project Esperanza.
We
plan to travel to Guatemala and volunteer as a family for a school year,
probably in early 2010 when our kids will be able to understand
the experience and actively participate with us.
Our mission is to provide support to the needy children of Guatemala.
Our beliefs: We are Catholic. We strive to provide help according to Saint Francis' vision expressed clearly in his prayer:
